Why Should You Trust Me?

I am Wayne Liew, a Malaysian who has been staying in Kuala Lumpur for more than 10 years.

As a local, Putra World Trade Center (PWTC) is a venue I visited multiple times. I have been there for conferences and exhibitions. Sometimes, organizers of major marathons in the city also use the convention center as the place for race bib collection.

I know the area very well. Therefore, I can verify the validity of claims by hotels that they are within close proximity to train stations and points of interest.

To produce this guide, I scoured major hotel booking websites that I have used in the past and summarized recent experiences of guests who stayed at these hotels.

The hotels on this list must have at least 150 reviews across all the booking websites, and the average rating must be at least 3.5 out of 5 or its equivalent.

Also, I have friends who stayed at the area around PWTC Kuala Lumpur when they are here for a holiday. I heard many opinions about the hotels they were staying in when I hung out with them. I then corroborate these thoughts with what I gathered from hotel booking websites to compile this guide.

This guide is not sponsored by any hotels at all. If you make a booking after clicking on any of the links below, this website earns a commission from the hotel booking websites at no extra costs to you. You are free to choose the website you want to use to book your hotel rooms.

Best Budget Hotel: Aira Hotel

Aira Hotel

Aira Hotel is one of the cheapest hotels in the area. It is a fairly new hotel too.

Despite the cheap price tag for rooms, many guests who stayed here left a positive review. For the price they paid, the rooms are considered to be big and comfortable. Not only that, it is the only hotel on this list that won the hearts of guests thanks to its strong Wi-Fi connection.

Aside from minor nuisances such as weak air conditioners and small bathrooms, the hotel has very little to complain about.

There is one thing Aira Hotel does that is worth noting.

The hotel does not have enough space to fit a common dining area, but that doesn’t stop it from providing free breakfast. Every morning, guests who are staying at the hotel get free breakfast delivered to their room. It is a nice and personal touch that many guests enjoyed.

Pros
  • Big, comfortable rooms with clean beds.
  • Helpful and knowledgeable staffs.
  • Strong Wi-Fi connection.
  • Breakfasts get sent to the room.
Cons
  • Weak air conditioners.
  • Small bathrooms.

“The hotel room was large and clean. The staffs were really friendly and knowledgeable about public transportation options.” – Daniel

Other Hotels Worth Considering

If for some reasons the hotels above do not suit your tastes or preferences, you can also consider booking a room at one of the following hotels that I shortlisted for this compilation.

Grand Seasons Hotel

Grand Seasons Hotel

Grand Seasons Hotel is one of the longest-serving hotels for the area around Putra World Trade Center.

It retains many qualities of a good hotel. For example, it sits on a good location near the convention center. Its close proximity to the train stations also means that guests can easily explore the city by taking a KTM Komuter or an LRT train.

Past guests also applauded Grand Seasons for its clean rooms, stable Wi-Fi connection, and friendly staffs. Some of its rooms even offer a view of PETRONAS Twin Towers and KL Tower.

The factors behind the hotel’s poor ratings could be due to the fact that the hotel is old and in need of refurbishment. For example, guests complained about broken amenities in its bathroom, spoiled power plugs, old furniture, and carpets.

Worst of all, some guests even pointed out that water coming out from the tap and shower was yellowish during their stay. For many travelers, especially those traveling with family or for the purpose of business, this is not acceptable at all.

Sani Hotel

Sani Hotel

Overall, Sani Hotel has received a fair amount of positive reviews from its past guests.

They love its location being so close to PWTC Kuala Lumpur and the train stations. Additionally, the hotel is just within walking distance from GM Plaza, a wholesale shopping mall selling textile, luggage, garments, fashion accessories and toys at affordable prices.

Breakfast provided by the hotel received mixed reviews from guests, but this is fairly common for budget hotels. As for the rooms, they are spacious, but the lamps are a little too dim for some. The low water pressure in the shower and poor soundproofing disappointed a small number of travelers who stayed there.

Overall, there is no critical review about the hotel. However, its average user rating stands at only 7.3 out of 10, which is the lowest among all the hotels on this list. Besides, the low rating is based on just 460 reviews, which says a few things about not being able to impress your early customers enough. For these reasons, anybody would be cautious about recommending this hotel.

Crossroads Hotel

Crossroads Hotel

Crossroads Hotel didn’t make the cut to be the best of the best hotels near PWTC Kuala Lumpur due to its low average user ratings.

The hotel is within close proximity to the convention center as well as the train and bus stations, making it an option worth considering if you are attending an event held at PWTC.

Guests who stayed at Crossroads Hotel love its clean room, friendly staffs, and stable Wi-Fi. Moreover, there are plenty of food stalls and restaurants nearby.

Avoid rooms without a window, though. Guests complained about the musty smell in these rooms. Moreover, the fact that the non-smoking room policy is not strictly enforced may make things worse.

Hundreds of travelers book a stay in a hotel near PWTC every single day.

Let’s look at the reasons why hotels in the area are so attractive for travelers, especially those who are visiting Kuala Lumpur for business purposes.

Centerstage for Conferences, Tradeshows, and Events

Putra World Trade Center (PWTC) is the go-to venue for medium to large-scale conventions and exhibitions all-year-round. On average, the convention center hosts two to five conferences, trade shows, and exhibitions each month.

Aside from larger events, many companies or corporations also choose PWTC as a venue for corporate training, seminars and large meetings.

Attendees for these events come from all over the country or even from all around the globe. If you are one of them, you would want to stay in a hotel near PWTC to minimize commute time.

There are two train stations serving the area surrounding PWTC. They are:

  • PWTC LRT Station
  • Putra KTM Komuter Station

PWTC LRT Station is on the LRT Ampang Line and LRT Sri Petaling Line. Key stations along this train line include:

  • Plaza Rakyat LRT Station: Interchange station with MRT Sungai Buloh – Kajang Line.

Putra KTM Komuter Station is part of the KTM Komuter Port Klang Line and KTM Komuter Seremban Line.

Key stations on the KTM Komuter Port Klang Line include:

  • KL Sentral: Interchange station with LRT Kelana Jaya Line, KLIA Ekspres and KLIA Transit, KL Monorail, MRT Sungai Buloh – Kajang Line, and KTM ETS.

Must-See Attractions Near PWTC Kuala Lumpur

Even though there might be a lot to see and explore in the area surrounding Putra World Trade Center, there are not many tourist attractions.

However, if you feel like exploring the city further after your event at PWTC, attractions within Kuala Lumpur are just a train ride away.

Chow Kit Market

Beneath the skyscrapers of Kuala Lumpur lies a local market that endured decades of rapid development – Chow Kit Market.

Chow Kit Market is a wet market where locals buy their daily necessities and groceries. Aside from vegetables, poultry, meat, fruits, spices, and seafood, you can also find stalls selling clothes, textiles, shoes, and food.

Most of those who come to the market are locals, and tourists are rare. The market is busy around 7:00am to 8:00am in the morning. This time is when you get to see sellers actively tending their stalls while interacting with customers to sell what they have for the day.

Spend some time weaving around the narrow walkways and immerse your senses into the lively scene of locals buying and selling everyday goods.

Unlike touristy markets, the sellers at Chow Kit Market are friendly. They are more than happy to explain and answer your question about something they sell that you find interesting.
