Inside these reports, you will find critical numbers related to the site, together with the actions I took as well as the lessons I learned.
Without further ado, let’s jump right in to see what happened in July.

What Happened in July?
Nothing much, but what was accomplished will pretty much set the foundation for the months ahead.
Getting Serious with Commercial Content
I initially planned to write two pieces of commercial content in June. However, I only managed to publish one about Kuala Lumpur half-day city tours.
Despite the shortfall, I found out the best ways to have content elements that are important for such articles. These elements include:
- Comparison tables
- Pros versus Cons boxes
- Feature lists
Since I now have all these figured out thanks to Shortcodes Ultimate, it should take me less time to produce these content in the future.
As I am writing this report, I cannot wait to start my next commercial content piece.
For the coming months, and probably even until the end of 2017, producing commercial content pieces and optimizing its presentation will occupy most of my time spent on kuaby.
Nailing Down My Daily Routine
Ever since I got back from Barcelona, my daily routine was a mess.
I wasn’t able to fix it in July. However, I did come up with an ideal routine for myself.
It looks like this.
As you can see, it contains all the essential activities that I would like to do on a daily basis.
I know what you are thinking. It’s impossible to go from a mess to something as perfect as the screenshot above. Even if I managed to follow the routine this month, it may not last.
I know all that, and I’m aware that it will take time.
Pulling myself out of the bed and go to the gym for a short workout every morning will not be easy. Cooking my own dinner instead of eating out is going to be tough.
Last but not least, the biggest roadblock standing between me and this ideal routine is probably going to bed at 10:30pm every day. Looking at the clock (12:09am) as I am writing this, I know I am still very far away from achieving this ideal routine.
The good thing, though, is that I now have a goal to work towards.
Turning Personal Branding Activities into a Process
The dust is settling on my personal branding side of things.
I have been putting out a video a day for the last 60 days or so. Taking photos and shooting videos of myself narrating my daily activities is becoming a habit. Also, I now spend an hour every day editing a video documenting my previous day.
These activities are becoming an inherent part of my life, just like brushing my teeth and taking a shower in the morning.
At this point of time, I’m good as long as I am still putting out a video daily.
I don’t see myself investing more resources into this department unless I feel very passionate about an innovation that can be implemented here.
Upcoming Highlights for August?
I will stay laser-focused in August. Nothing much will change.
As mentioned above, I will try to work towards adhering to my ideal daily routine.
Producing a daily video is becoming a habit. For kuaby, the focus is clear. I need to produce more commercial content.
It will be repetitive and boring, but I believe all the above will make affiliate revenue a steady income stream for kuaby.
I am excited to see where kuaby will be at the end of 2017.
Trip to Ho Chi Minh City
Amid all the planned hustle, I have an upcoming family trip coming up at the end of August. We are heading to Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam.
For those of you who have been following my progress, I know what you are thinking.
Haven’t you been traveling a lot this year?
The answer is yes, and I am aware of it too. As someone who loves to travel, I cannot say no when an opportunity to visit a country I’ve never been to arises.
It took me years, if not months, to convince my dad to travel to a foreign country beyond Thailand. When he agreed to my proposal for a Ho Chi Minh trip, I knew I had to plan for it right away.
This will be my first time planning a trip for my parents. I don’t know how it will be like, but I’m quite sure it will bring us closer.
I don’t know why, but when I was growing up, my parents rarely travel. They probably don’t like it, or they simply didn’t have the time. I will make it my personal mission to find out the reason during this trip.
Stay tuned for photos from Ho Chi Minh City!
Profit and Loss Statement
kuaby made a loss of $99.62 in July 2017.
Revenue stood at $12.16 in July, which a 19% month-on-month decrease from $14.98 in June.
- Google AdSense: $12.16 (-19%)
TOTAL: $12.16 (-19%)
Knowing that there is an increase in unique visitors, the drop in revenue shows that these visitors are either not clicking on ads, or the ads they clicked did not result in a high revenue-per-click.
I didn’t bother diving deeper to investigate the root cause. Revenue from banner advertising is no longer a number I want to grow. Thus, I would rather spend the time on completing this monthly report as soon as I can.
Here are the expenses for the month of July:
- Digital Ocean: $12.00
- Adobe Creative Cloud: $9.99
- Google Apps: $5.00
- ActiveCampaign: $9.00
- Developer (my brother): $46.76
- Facebook Ads: $29.03 (+5%)
TOTAL EXPENSES: $111.78 (+2%)
Total expenses remain stable. It should remain at this level for the coming few months unless kuaby achieves a breakthrough in revenue.
In July 2017, 7,364 unique visitors came to kuaby. This resembled a 16% month-on-month increase from the 6,353 unique visitors that kuaby received in June 2017.

Revenue per 1,000 Impressions (RPM)
Revenue per 1,000 page views or RPM is a metric to measure a website’s efficiency in monetizing its page views.
kuaby’s RPM for July is $1.12, down by 30% month-on-month.
I do not know what the industry average is for this metric, and it is also not a metric that I am focusing on right now. Please share your RPM of your site with me if you are tracking this metric.
Email Subscribers: 81 (+11%)
Again, Full Steam Ahead for Affiliate Revenue
